The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that Mamelodi Sundowns owner, Patrice Motsepe will be a candidate for the presidency of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Minister of Sports Art and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa and SAFA president, Danny Jordaan, made the announcement at SAFA House in Johannesburg earlier on Monday.
Motsepe will be running against current CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad, from Madagascar and Jacques Anouma from the Ivory Coast.
If he wins the election to run the African governing body, he will have to step down from his role at Sundowns.
