The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (Sadag) has announced a 24 hour helpline during this holiday season.
As the festive season is in full swing, for many it is a time of merriment and celebration but some are battling loneliness and depression.
Sadag spokesperson, Dessy Tzoneva says there will be counselling available at all hours to members of the public.
“We are very used to the festive season being a time of celebration and family get together but that is not the reality for many people who have challenges and have had them throughout the year and they continue they don’t just stop because it’s the holidays. They can speak to a counsellor at Sadag about what they’re going through; discuss ways of trying to help themselves, of trying to cope during this time. We do have a 24/7 hotline that is available which is 0800 121314 there is also another helpline which is 0800708090 that is available from 8am to 8pm every day,” says Tzoneva.
