SA Netball team trashes Barbados at Commonwealth Games

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The South African netball team has thrashed Barbados 85-25 at the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday morning.

Goal shooters Ine-Marie Burger and Sigrid Burger, who played half the match each, were both in fine form. It’s too little too late though, as Australia play New Zealand, and Jamaica meet England in the semi-finals.

South Africa will play Uganda in the semi-finals of the 5th place play-off.

Phumza Maweni says they’re happy with their performance.

On Wednesday South Africa will be up for medals. Sunette Viljoen in the javelin and Luvo Manyonga and Rushwaal Samaai in the long jump all have high hopes.

The visually impaired lawn bowls pair is guaranteed a medal. They play Australia in the Mixed B2 and B3 Pairs gold medal match on Wednesday morning.
