SA Express passengers to be diverted to SAA, Mango

Reading Time: < 1 minute

South African Express passengers are now being diverted to South African Airways (SAA) and Mango flights.  This follows the shutting down of SA Express by the South African Civil Aviation Authority on Thursday.

The South African Civil Aviation Authority grounded SA Express following an inspection which found nine of its 21 aircraft unfit to fly.  The inspection followed harrowing reports recently of SA Express aircraft experiencing technical problems including an aircraft blowing an engine mid- air while were flying passengers from East London to Johannesburg.

Since on Thursday, SA Express has been working with SAA and Mango to cater for stranded SA Express passengers.

Despite being grounded SA Express still has plans to return to the skies, urgently, according to a statement. The company has put together a team to work on resolving the safety issues identified by the Civil Aviation Authority with the view to regaining its operating licence.
