A bra made almost entirely of Rooibos tea bags has been created by a lingerie brand to shine the spotlight on breast cancer.

The Rooibos bra forms part of several initiatives aimed at creating awareness of breast cancer and other cancers affecting women.

It was unveiled to mark the start of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and will be auctioned in a few weeks’ time at a high-profile fundraising dinner in aid of CANSA’s women education programmes.

“So Rooibos actually helps to prevent cancer if you drink Rooibos tea it helps to fight the root cause of cancer which is inflammation. So the purpose of a bra is of course a wearable bra. It’s made from Rooibos teabags but the actual purpose is to shine the light on breast cancer which affects one in twenty seven South African women once in their lifetime,” says South African Rooibos Council spokesperson, Adele du Toit.
