Investigations are underway following an armed robbery at the Eden Park police station, east of Johannesburg, Wednesday night. No one was injured. One R-5 rifle and two empty magazines cannot be accounted for.

Police say two men, one armed, entered the police station’s client service centre and ordered police on duty to hand over keys to the safe. Brigadier Mathapelo Peters says an R-5 rifle and two empty magazines are now confirmed missing.

The suspects fled in a white bakkie with unknown registration numbers. The make and description of the vehicle is also not known.

Gauteng Provincial Police Commissioner, Deliwe Delange, has ordered immediate investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the armed robbery.
