Restoring life back into Pilgrims Rest

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The old mining town of Pilgrims Rest in Mpumalanga might once again return to its former glory. Thanks to a group of citizens of the province who have taken it upon themselves to come up with an initiative aimed at attracting tourists to the town.

For many years Pilgrims Rest used to be a popular tourist destination in Mpumalanga. But now, it has turned into a ghost town, rundown and neglected.

Many shops have closed down, mainly because government hasn’t renewed lease agreements for businesses in the area. However, a group of Mpumalanga residents are working towards giving Pilgrims Rest a transformation.

They are providing the best tourist attractions they can offer.

The hospitality industry is going all out, offering sumptuous cuisine for guests.

Others are treating visitors to unique local dance moves.

This initiative has brought some relief to some business owners.
