The United Democratic Movement (UDM) says better regulations should be introduced to curb the vandalism of party election posters. UDM deputy president Nqabayomzi Kwankwa says some of the party’s posters have been vandalised in Dunoon in Cape Town.
Posters bearing the face of African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa have also been ripped off the poles on the R27 road near Table View.
One of the Freedom Front Plus posters was ripped off on the same road.
Kwankwa who has been on an election campaign in the province condemns the vandalism of posters.
“It’s a general problem not only here in the Western Cape but it seem like its not only happening all over the country. It’s something that needs to be better regulated next time because even if we have to report about our posters put down, who are we going to say did it, because in many instances we don’t even see the culprits. You see the poster today, and when you wake up the following day there are no posters.”
