Inkatha Freedom Party ( IFP) leader, Mangosuthu Buthelezi says registering to vote is an important facet of the democracy that was long fought for. Buthelezi was speaking earlier as he arrived at the Local Tribal Authority in Ulundi, KwaZulu-Natal to check his registration details.
He is expected to visit a few voting stations around Ulundi, to encourage people to register and update their details. Buthelezi has appealed to all South Africans to come out and verify their details and make sure they are registered to vote.
“Voting in the election is something that our liberation stalwarts, Madiba and some of us fought for and therefore it is very important because we struggled for liberation precisely because we wanted to vote and to have a voice in our country. Therefore as long as there is still breath in me now that all my brothers such as Madiba have gone, I still find myself duty bound, it’s a matter of conscience that I make sure that we did not struggle for nothing. “
