Former Department of Mineral Resources Director-General, Thibedi Ramontja, says the Optimum mine project was centralised in former minister,  Mosebenzi Zwane’s office.

He was testifying at the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture in Parktown, Johannesburg.

Ramontja says he was excluded from all matters relating to Optimum. He also says he was not invited to a meeting in Zurich, Switzerland, where the sale of Optimum was to be discussed.

Ramontja has told Advocate Vincent Maleka of the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture in Parktown that Zwane, his Deputy Director-General Juel Raphela and representatives from Glencore and Oakbay attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, former Minister of Finance Nhlanhla Nene has taken the stand at the inquiry.
