Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address aimed at rekindling hope

President Cyril Ramaphosa says his State of the Nation Address on Thursday will be an important opportunity for him to rekindle hope to overcome the challenges the country is facing.

He was speaking to the media after meeting the presiding officers of Parliament.

Ramaphosa’s address will come at a time at which the economy has contacted to just over 3% and unemployment has stubbornly risen to over 27%.

Ramaphosa says he will address issues of concern to the nation.

Also, the Presiding Officers of Parliament, Thandi Modise and Amos Masondo, say they are ready for the official opening of Parliament.

Both officers met with President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday afternoon to brief him on the preparations ahead of his State of the Nation Address (Sona).

Modise, who is the Speaker of the National Assembly, says they will ensure that all the rules are adhered to.
