President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Tuesday welcome Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Tuynhuys in Cape Town for a state visit expected to boost the two countries’ trade.
Steinmeier is the German Head of State, while Chancellor Angela Merkel is head of government.
President Steinmeier is the first German President to visit the country since 1998.
Germany is a key partner in the South African economy, being one the largest foreign investors. It has more than 600 companies employing an estimated 100 000 people.
The visit is expected to culminate in the signing of trade and investment agreements.
