Ramaphosa promises to clean up corruption in ANC

African National Congress president Cyril Ramaphosa says the governing party is serious about fighting corruption.

He was speaking in an interview with the SABC following his maiden January 8 statement in East London on Saturday.

Ramaphosa says for the fight against corruption to succeed, the ANC has to embark on a programme of renewal. He says they want to go back to their values and principles.

“ANC will revitalize itself based on everything that it does in the course of the year, on adherence to those principles and values and through that we will rid ourselves of those tendencies that have become current in the ANC… things which we have identified. We are going to be taking up people who militate against the unity we want to achieve and will also be acting timeous against those various bad tendencies.”
