President Cyril Ramaphosa has praised Indians who fought against apartheid in South Africa and abroad. He also highlighted the role played by the Indian community in South Africa, describing them as great, great thinkers and courageous.

Ramaphosa is in India on an official state visit. He says people of Indian origin in South Africa have played a monumental role in shaping the shaping into what it is now.

He delivered the first India, Brazil, South Africa Gandhi Mandela Freedom Lecture in New Delhi in honour of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.
