Reading Time: < 1 minute

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa appeared before the commission in August 2014 and denied having influenced the then Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa, on what steps to take during a strike action in Marikana in 2012.

Ramaphosa, faced accusations of putting political pressure on the police to take action against striking Lonmin employees before the shooting at the Marikana mine on August 16, 2012.

It was the bloodiest security incident since the end of white-minority rule 20 years ago.

Below is Ramaphosa at the enquiry.
