Reading Time: < 1 minute

President Cyril Ramaphosa has told Parliament that Government had used section 3 (1) of the State Attorney Act with section 12.2.2 of the applicable Treasury Regulations, as outlined in the Public Finance Management Act when it agreed to pay former president Jacob Zuma’s legal fees.

The president has sought to give clarity on this matter. Ramaphosa sent a written reply to the National Assembly on Thursday.

Following his promise to do so during his question and answer session in the House last week.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) had asked Ramaphosa to explain which law the Government had used when it agreed to pay for Zuma’s legal fees.
