Ramaphosa encourages youth

Reading Time: < 1 minute

South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has encouraged young people to get involved in skills development projects.
On Monday, Ramaphosa addressed hundreds of young people in Galeshewe Stadium, in Kimberley where Youth Day celebrations were being held.
He says government has already said that 60% of all jobs created will go to young people.
The Deputy President has also urged young people in Kimberley to open businesses and added that government will give them assistance.
“We [government] want to see young people opening their own businesses. And we will gladly assist you in any way we can,” says Ramaphosa.
Meanwhile, some of the angry disabled people who attended the event told Ramaphosa that they don’t want their ministry to fall under the Department of Social Development.
“We want our ministry to be in the Presidency. We are tired of being neglected,” they told the Deputy President.
Ramaphosa has assured them that he will take their grievances to President Jacob Zuma.
Zuma did not attend the commemorations this year due to him resting after a hectic schedule. The President checked into a hospital recently for a routine check-up.
