African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Ace Magashule says if there will be a State of the Nation Address, it  will be delivered by party president Cyril Ramaphosa.

Magashule was briefing the media about the outcome of a National Executive Committee meeting about President Jacob Zuma’s fate.

The NEC has officially recalled Zuma and saying he is expected to respond to the recall on Wednesday.

“In terms of our constitution, there is the president of the ANC now. We said comrade Ramaphosa must become the president of the ANC. Therefore, if there is SONA, it will be addressed by President Ramaphosa, there is no question about it. SONA will be addressed by comrade Ramaphosa.”

Ramaphosa has spent the week holding talks with the embattled Zuma to discuss issues relating to his imminent departure from high office.

Following the postponement of the SONA, Zuma has had his public engagements reduced as the nation anxiously waits for a decision on his future.
