President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral for the late Queen Mother of Amampondo in the Eastern Cape, Queen Fikelephi ‘Bongolethu’ Ndamase.

The Queen died last week at St Mary’s hospital in Mthatha aged 56.

President Ramaphosa has ordered that the National Flag be flown at half-mast at every flag station in the Eastern Cape Province on the Queen’s funeral this Saturday.

In a statement the President has once again expressed his deepest condolences to the Royal family.

In 1982, the Queen married Prince Mabalengwe Ndamase, who passed away in 1988. She also acted as Regent from 1997 to 2008 following the death of Amampondo king, Tutor Ndamase, her father-in law.

Queen Ndamase leaves behind her two sons, King Ndamase Ndamase and Prince Bonga Ndamase.

The funeral will be on Saturday June, 16 at Nyandeni, outside Libode, Eastern Cape.
