Freedom Park is calling on members of the public to visit the park in Pretoria for an exhibition in honour of former president Nelson Mandela. The park has a month-long exhibition of some of Madiba’s images that Keith Bernstein captured for over a decade.

The Memories of Nelson Mandela Exhibition is in line with the former statesman’s centenary birthday celebrations. The park’s curator, Sipho Mdanda, says families can use this opportunity to teach young people about Madiba.

“You know I wish they could bring their families to show the pictures of Mandela. I don’t think younger people have seen an exhibition of Mandela. They have seen Mandela on TV doing his business and they have seen Mandela sick. They have different opinions of his image but here is a collection of 22 images of the man at his best, somber and happy moods, a multitude of expressions that show he was really human.”
