Proteas captain, Faf du Plessis, and his victorious squad returned from Australia on Monday after winning the One Day  International series 2-1 and also winning the only T20 international encounter in Gold Coast.

Du Plessis says he is happy with the squad’s progress ahead of the World Cup in England next year and also with their style of cricket which includes four front line bowlers but which leaves the batting line up a little thin.

They call him the Aussie slayer, the man Australians love to hate.  Du Plessis has been eneny number one Down Under and he loves it. Gone are the days when South Africa and most countries in world cricket suffer at the hands of the Australians.

Du Plessis batted all day on his Test debut facing 376 balls in Adelaide to save the Proteas from defeat.

South Africa have beaten their enemy in three successive test series on Australian soil – he also led them to a five nil ODI series white wash in South Africa a couple of years ago. The captain is happy and his squad is on track.

“I also feel as a team we starting to get better and better the more we play together our combinations and style of play. The guys are getting used to it now, our new balance that we are playing.  The guys are finding their roles in the team. It was a very exciting time for us in Australia,” says Du Plessis.

Du Plessis who has had a lot of success in the Indian Premier League with the Chennai Super Kings says the Proteas now can’t wait to get involved in the Mzansi Super League.
