Pressure is mounting up on Chilli Boys as they lose yet another match

Reading Time: 1 minute

Kaizer Chiefs’ impressive run continued when they beat struggling Chippa United 2-0 in an Absa Premiership encounter played in front of 12 561 people at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday night.

It was Dumisani Zuma’s brace that handed Amakhosi the win, and Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp expressed his views on the match.

The win took Chiefs who are top of the log to 25 points in 10 matches, and Middendorp reckons that Amakhosi benefitted after Chilli Boyz suffered injuries to Elvis Moyo, Frederic Nsabiyumva and Boikanyo Komane in the first half.

The Chilli Boyz are still winless after 10 matches, and are rooted at the bottom of the Absa Premiership standings with only four points from four draws having lost six matches. Despite losing the match, Chilli Boyz coach Norman Mapeza says his boys played well.

Meanwhile, Mapeza has described injuries to Moyo, Nsabiyumva and Komane as a massive blow as the Chilli Boyz are still searching for their first Absa Premiership win of the season.

The Chilli Boyz’s next match is away to AmaZulu at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, Durban, on Saturday evening. Report by Monwabisi Jimlongo.
