More than 40 African leaders are expected to attend. Russian President Vladimir Putin will co-host the summit with Egyptian counterpart President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The two day summit will begin on Wednesday.

The summit is expected to forge closer collaboration on regional and international issues of common interest. These include strategic dialogue between Russia and African countries on peace and security on the continent as well as economic sustainable development.

On Monday – Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow could offer help without strings attached unlike what he termed, the exploitative West.

Speaking to local media – Putin accused the west of intimidating and applying pressure on African countries in order to exploit the continent’s resources.

He said Russia was ready to offer help without “political conditions” and to embrace the principle of African solutions for African problems.
