President Cyril Ramaphosa has elected reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi to be an ambassador for gender-based violence on the African continent as he takes the African Union chairship.

Arts and Culture Deputy Minister Nocawe Mafu announced the news during Tunzi’s home-coming celebrations at a stadium in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.

Meanwhile, Mafu encouraged young people to pursue their dreams.

“I just want to say to you young people, dream big and make sure that nobody actually tells you that your dreams are not real because once you are able to do that, you will be able to reach where nobody would have thought, you would.”

“Nobody would have thought in a million years that you would be Miss Universe from  Esidwadweni in Tsolo.”
