President Ramaphosa arrives in West Africa

President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in West Africa. Earlier, the President held talks with his counterpart in Guinea Conakry, President Alpha Conde.

He will on Thursday hold a bilateral meeting with the President of Ghana.

The visit is aimed at strengthening the already existing, political and economic relations between South Africa and the three West African countries.

The President, as the incoming chair of the African Union (AU), will also take time to reflect on the challenges facing the continent.

South Africa has identified peace and security as the main issue that needs special attention for the continent to reach its target of silencing the guns by 2020.

The President will wrap up his visit in Togo.
