Parliament has subpoenaed the board of the embattled passenger rail agency, PRASA, to urgently appear before it.

Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Transport has instructed PRASA executives to travel to Parliament this afternoon.

The committee’s Acting Chairperson Leonard Ramatlakane has described the attitude of the board as unacceptable.

“Let me just say something to PRASA. We are not asking you a favour, nor we want to negotiate anything with you. It is very clear. In fact they should have been here. There is no other way in doing and asking flexibility, because we could have chased you away long time. So we are not asking the board to do us any favours. We sent the letter last Wednesday. We are now saying they must be here at two o’clock.”
