The rail agency, Prasa says security will be improved on Cape Town’s central line after it was reopened last week.

The line was shut down for several weeks due to vandalism.

Prasa officials joined commuters in a carriage from Langa to the CBD as part of a site inspection.

Prasa Acting GROUP CEO, Cromet Molepo interacted with commuters to hear their concerns.

The visit follows a recent spike in vandalism and some safety challenges.

Commuters have called for more security and police to be deployed on the trains.

Prasa says they will be using armoured vehicles to patrol the central line soon. They’re also looking at the deployment of railway police to safeguard infrustructure and rail users.
