Police have asked the public not to speculate but to give them space and time to do their work in the Senzo Meyiwa murder investigation.

This comes amid social media claims that the son of renowned musician, Chicco – Longwa Twala was involved in the killing of the former Bafana Bafana player.

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula says a team has been newly assembled to look into the murder.

Speaking to the SABC, Twala responded to the allegations during an interview on SABC radio station Metro FM.

Meyiwa was shot and killed in October 2014.

Spokesperson for the Police Ministry Vuyo Mhaga says investigations into the murder continue.

“The case of Mr Senzo Meyiwa has taken has time but we have not closed the case. We have actually beefed up the team and that team is reporting to the national commissioner, the head of crime detectives. We would love if South Africans can give the police space to do their work. Police are professionals; they have been trying to do their work. And if they can do that, it will assist us a great deal.”
