One security guard has been shot and killed and another wounded after a group of suspects ambushed a cash van in Linbro Park, north of Johannesburg.
The van which was transporting money and an escort bakkie were confronted by about fifteen gunmen travelling in seven vehicles.
The suspects opened fire on the two vehicles.
Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says, “During the shooting, one security was shot and killed and the other one taken to hospital. Three were unharmed. The suspects went on and bombed the cash vehicle. No safe was opened and no money was taken during the Cash in Transit heist. About four or five firearms of the security guards were taken.”
