Police discourage rewards for Ajay Gupta’s arrest

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Police Ministry says government discourages and distances itself from all rewards offered by private citizens for the capture of the Gupta brothers and Duduzane Zuma.

It says such offers can endanger the suspects, lookalikes and the general public.  Police Minister Fikile Mbalula was reacting on his Twitter account after various business-people and others offered rewards totaling between one and two million rand.

The CEO of Sygnia Asset Management, Magda Wierzycka, has offered at least R500000 and the CEO of tech start-up company Riovic,  Phiwa Nkambule, R400000.

Mbalula says the public should rather approach the police.

Police have declared Ajay Gupta a fugitive from justice and are also apparently looking for Atul Gupta and Duduzane Zuma over alleged corruption.
