Three more suspects have been arrested for the killing of children, one with albinism in Vosman near Witbank, Mpumalanga.

The latest arrest brings to six the number of suspects arrested since the killing of the children in January. Among the suspects is a traditional healer believed to be from Swaziland.

The traditional healer and co-accused appeared in court and their case has been postponed to next Tuesday.

The suspects will spend another week in police holding cells. The sangoma, Thokozani Msibi, and Mthobisi Mkhize were remanded in custody. Mkhize is yet to find a lawyer.

They are charged with murder, kidnapping, conspiracy to kidnap and violation of a corpse. But Mkhize’s mother does not believe her son is a killer.

“He didn’t do it because we know him. If they say he indeed did do it then he was forced by this sangoma,” says Mkhize’s mother.

Gun welding men abducted the two children Gabisile Shabane and her cousin Nkosikhona Ngwenya from their home.

Gabisile’s beheaded body was found buried in a shallow grave and that of her cousin, Nkosinathi was found in a stream along the N4 Toll Road.

A community meeting is scheduled for this weekend to educate communities about people with albinism.

The three additional suspects are expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
