The Government Communication and Information System, or GCIS remained in the spotlight of the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture when its acting CEO of the Phumla Williams testified as the fifth witness.
Phumla Williams explained in detail the role of GICS within government and the country at large. She told the Zondo Commission of inquiry into State Capture, that one of their main functions is to buy on behalf of government departments. She said they have made sure that GCIS is visible in all areas across the country, especially rural areas, for information-sharing purposes.
