Motorists will fork out record high fuel prices from Wednesday as the retail price of petrol has increased by 82 cents per litre.

This has pushed the petrol price to above R15 a litre and this will have a knock-on effect on other costs.

This is the third consecutive fuel hike this year.

Diesel now costs 87 cents more and paraffin is up by R1.09 a litre.

The price of LP Gas has increased by R1.38 per kilogramme. The increases have been attributed to the rise in oil prices and a weaker rand.

South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors.

International factors include the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including importation costs such as shipping costs.
