A petrol attendant, 34 year old Velile Mfama, has been shot dead during an armed robbery in Mahikeng, North West, in the early hours of the morning.

Other employees at the filling station have been left unharmed but traumatised.

A worker at the petrol station says at around 4:30 am on Tuesday morning, five men came out from a BMW with guns and instructed them to lie down in the shop. They blew up the safe and took money. Unfortunately, Mfama was in a car outside, oblivious to what was taking place.

He heard the explosion and came out of the car to check. That is when the robbers where coming out of the shop. They saw him and shot him,” says  Mfama’s co-worker.
