People don’t give Dan Malesela the respect he deserves – Lorch

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The newly crowned South African Footballer of the year Thembinkosi “Nyoso” Lorch has congratulated his former coach Dan “Dance” Malesela for making history this past weekend, leading TS Galaxy to the Nedbank Cup title, the first South African lower division team to do so.

Lorch played under Malesela at Cape Town All Stars and Chippa United and this is where he made his mark before returning to his parental club Orlando Pirates. The 25-year-old attacker says this was well deserved for Malesela.

A return of 15 goals in all competitions and five assists also shows instrumental Lorch has been to this Pirates team which finished second to champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership.

He credits the finishing coach Stephane Adam for his improvement in the final third.

Lorch took home the Footballer of the Season and the Absa Premiership Players’ Player of the Season award.

Besides doing well in the league, Lorch was also one of the star players in the Telkom Cup finishing with four goals in four matches.

After missing a penalty in that TKO final against Baroka FC, the Bloemfontein born attacker has more on what kept him going. – Report by Velile Mnyandu
