Pauw not concerned about SARS case against him

Investigative Journalist, Jacque Pauw, says he’s not concerned about the decision of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) to open a case against him.

SARS has confirmed that it has opened the case in the High Court in Cape Town.

Pauw’s book ‘The President’s Keepers’ has caused a stir about an alleged corrupt relationship between SARS Commissioner, Tom Monyane and President Jacob Zuma.

SARS says Pauw has contravened the Tax Administration Act by publishing confidential information.

Pauw says he was served with court papers last week.

In his book he mentions among others the illegal payment to Jacob Zuma by Roy Moodley and he mentions his son Edward Zuma.

He says: “Mr Monyane says in these instances you have contravened the Tax Adminstration Act. What is very important here is I could not have contravened the Tax Adminstration Act if what I had published is not true.”

“If I had published false information it would have been fiction. I could not have contravened any act so in essence Tom Moyane is confirming what I have published in my book,'” says Pauw.
