The parliamentary inquiry into allegations of state capture at Eskom has heard contradictory statements relating to the date on which former Eskom Chief Executive Officer Brian Molefe joined the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund.

Earlier, former Eskom Board Chairperson Ben Ngubane told the inquiry that in a letter he received from former Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown indicated that Molefe’s appointment was for a period of five years subject to annual performance reviews.

African National Congress Member of Parliament Namhla Nobanda says the power utility’s pension fund has a different date of employment compared to Eskom.

“The pension fund says he joined the fund on 13 September and on his exit form 25 September 2015 is cited as employment date.”
