Public Enterprises Committee vows to hold Martins accountable

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Members of the Public Enterprises Committee have vowed to force Deputy Minister Ben Martins to appear before the Parliamentary inquiry into Eskom.

Martins who was due to appear before the Committee on Wednesday, has written to the Committee indicating that he had only received the invitation two days before he was due to appear.

Martins had earlier written to the Committee complaining of bias and not being given a chance to give his side after former Eskom company secretary Suzanne Daniels implicated him.

Inquiry chairperson Zukiswa Rantho read part of the letter: “The written submission adequately addresses I am required to attest to. As a result it is unnecessary for me to appear before the Committee as I am responding to the Committee in writing.  Please find attached my submission. I also reserve my rights to seek legal recourse in this regard.”
