Parliament applauds progress at SABC

Parliament’s adhoc committee has commended the work done by the newly-appointed SABC board. The Portfolio Committee on Communications was briefed by the public broadcaster on Friday on its implementation of the public protector’s recommendation.

The 2014 report titled “When governance and ethics fail,” identified irregularities and financial mismanagement at the SABC. The newly appointed SABC Board was tasked to stabilise the public broadcaster.

The SABC board says steps can now be taken to turn the national broadcaster around.

With two vacancies left to be filled on the board. They have asked Parliaments for members with financial and technological skills.
