Panayiotou awaits court decision over appeal

Convicted murderer, Christopher Panayiotou will on Thursday hear whether  the Port Elizabeth High Court in the Eastern Cape will grant him permission or not in the application for leave to appeal his conviction.

Panayiotou is serving a life sentence at St Albans Prison after he was convicted of masterminding the kidnapping and murder of his wife, Jayde in April 2015.

On Wednesday, his lawyer Advocate Terry Price argued that Judge Daylin Chetty was biased and favoured the prosecution during the trial.

He said another court might arrive at a different conclusion. Co -accused Sinethemba Nenembe and Zolani Sibeko have also filed an application for leave to appeal their convictions.

Nenembe has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder, plus 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Zolani Sibeko is serving a 15 year jail term for conspiracy to commit murder.
