Over 30 parliamentary committee sittings expected this week

Parliament says more than 30 parliamentary committees from are expected to sit this week.

The National Council of Provinces(NCOP) is expected to continue with three plenary sessions to consider various budget votes.

The budget votes which are an important oversight mechanism in terms of scrutinising the budget votes of the Departments to ensure that they are firmly in line with their strategies of providing services to the people of South Africa.

Public money watchdog standing committee on public accounts(SCOPA) will have public hearings on the controversial National Treasury Integrated Financial Management System.

Parliament’s Spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says the lawmaking processes and oversight function of Parliament will also continue this week.
