Opposition has been sleeping in Parliament: ZanuPF Youth

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Zimbabwe’s Zanu PF Youth say the opposition has been sleeping in Parliament, and only demanding reforms now because they realise elections are around the corner. They gathered in the capital Harare in solidarity with the President and Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

Their demonstration was in response to Tuesday’s march by the opposition MDC-T Alliance

Speaking in numbers, Zanu PF Youth vowed to show the opposition that they support the President. They say Emerson Mnangwagwa’s call for elections to be free, fair and nonviolent should be emulated.

They marched around Robert Mugabe Square in central Harare echoing the party’s sentiments that all is on track for the polls. “Opposition was asleep in Parliament for five years, they are only calling for reforms now,” says ZanuPF Youth Affairs’ Pupurai Togarepi.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission says the voters roll will be made available to all candidates for free ahead of the elections scheduled for the 30 July. Click below for more on the story:
