C Town on-duty police officer kill wife, himself in dispute

Police have opened murder and inquest dockets after a Cape Town police official shot and killed his wife, before turning the gun on himself inside the Hout Bay police station.

The South African Police Services’ (SAPS) spokesperson, André Traut, says the officer’s wife was visiting him at work when the incident happened.

“The circumstances surrounding the death of a 41-year-old police Sergeant and his 36-year-old wife are under police investigations following an incident at the Hout Bay Police Station. It is alleged that the Sergeant’s wife visited the police station, when her husband shot and killed her during an apparent domestic dispute. Then shot and killed himself. The Sergeant was on duty at the time of incident. A murder case and a death inquest case docket have been registered”.
