South African Communist Party (SACP) General Secretary Blade Nzimande is expected to deliver a keynote address at the launch of the Red October Campaign at Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
Red October, also known as the October Uprising, originated from Russia in 1917 under Vladimir Lenin’s Bolshevik Party promoting socialism and the interest of the poor class.
Nzimande is expected to highlight the role of the SACP in the tripartite alliance, joblessness, poverty and inequality in the current democratic society in the country.
The theme for this year is Build Broad Patriotic and Left Popular Fronts: Mobilise to Fix Our Country!
Hundreds of communists from the OR Tambo region are converging on the venue to celebrate Red October.
