NYDA calls for removal of experience as entrance requirement for jobs

Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), Sifiso Mtsweni has called for the removal of experience as an entrance requirement into the job sector.

Mtshweni says there are jobs in South Africa; the problem is the requirement to have experience before you get a job.

“The youth is educated but this serves as a hindrance. Why do you need five years experience to be a receptionist if you have been answering phones your whole life, he asks. Where do you get experience if you’ve never had the opportunity to work,” he says.

The NYDA Executive Chairperson further asked for funding for the NYDA to help the course of youth empowerment and upliftment.

Mtshweni also paid tribute to Hector Pieterson, Tsietsi Mashinini, Peter Mokaba and the youth who paved way for today’s youth.
