The National Secretary of the Nigerian Union in South Africa (Nusa), Collins Emeka, has called for local authorities to move swiftly and arrest all suspected cartels running brothels and drug dens in both Rustenburg in the North West, and Krugersdorp in Gauteng.

This follows a series of attacks on foreign nationals since last week. Two buildings in Rustenburg have been set on fire by angry residents. They allege the two buildings are being used as brothels

Emeka also points out that not all Nigerians in South Africa are involved in drugs and prostitution.

He says, “The incidents are very unfortunate. Criminality has no national, there’s a lot of good and honest Nigerians in this country, especially in the medical sector and a lot of professionals.”

Emeka adds, “ We do not support any criminality. The South African Authority must arrest anybody  involved in crime, the police should arrests such a people so that we do not have mob action against individuals. This mob action is rising.”

Meanwhile, the Rustenburg Local Municipality has urged the community, taxi operators, and religious leaders to assist in closing down brothels in the area.
