North West MEC for Education, Maphefo Matsemela, has condemned acts of violence and bullying in schools. This after a grade 12 learner was stabbed six times allegedly by another learner.  The incident happened at Kebonang Secondary School in Mmabatho near Mahikeng.

It is alleged that two learners had a fistfight after school, and security personnel intervened and afterwards, one learner left the school premises and returned with a knife. He then allegedly stabbed the learner.

“North West MEC for Education has condemned the incident. She indicated that our schools are centres for learning and teaching, not battlefields. As the Department of Education we cannot harbour criminals at schools. The law must take its course in the matter,” says provincial Education Department spokesperson Elias Malindi.
