No evidence linking KZN couple to terrorism: Hawks

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Hawks say they do not have evidence that a couple accused of terrorism by the United Kingdom (UK) government has connections to international terror group, ISIS.

This comes after the UK issued an advisory warning its citizens of possible terrorism in South Africa. A man and a woman from KwaZulu-Natal have been remanded in custody for allegedly kidnapping two SA-British nationals.

“At this stage we don’t want to jump the gun, there is nothing through investigations that links this couple to ISIS. We must make it very clear. They’re expected back in court on 1 March for a formal bail application. They are facing charges of kidnapping, robbery and arson,” says the Hawks Lloyd Ramovha.
