NMB hosts manufacturing, composite show

Reading Time: 2 minutes

With the advancement of technology, more wheels are expected to turn on the production line. The latest options are in Nelson Mandela Bay at the first ever African Advanced Manufacturing and composite show in Africa.

“We wanted to show confidence in this economy, we wanted to show things are happening things are getting designed here and gets sent all over the world, India Australia other parts of Africa, we are particularly proud of the innovations of the fourth industrial revolution happening here,” says Mandela Bay Development Agency CEO, Ashraf Adam.

The challenge is to remain relevant in the global automotive manufacturing market.

“It’s extremely important, SA must take a long hard look at the systems we develop… they are really badly needed in South Africa. So efficiency, running your operation correctly, not just knowing how to run the line, but actually know what’s  happening with production is what 4.0 can bring to upper management,” says Jendamark Managing Director, Quinton Uren.

The development of a future generation of innovators is as important as technology.

“We take learners from high school who are interested in engineering stream and we put them in a support programme very intense so they maybe able to find jobs through that after high school and university,” says Unity in Africa’s Babalo Goba.

The digital industrial revolution poses substantial challenges. But South Africa is in a position of strength as it already has access

to Africa.
