The National Freedom Party (NFP) in Gauteng says the only way to overcome the challenges within the party is for Professor Nhlanhla Khubisa to resign as MP and quit the party.

Provincial Chairperson, Muziwendoda Majola says Kubisa can’t be in the leadership of the NFP because he had initially resigned as the party’s Secretary General.

Majola says the last thing they want is to underperform during the 2019 national elections due to the continuing divisions within the party.

“We are concerned with the way the party is being run here – for instance, professor Khubisa was the Secretary-General of the party and he resigned. So we cannot compromise the constitution of the NFP – we can talk and engage each other, but compromising the constitution of the NFP will mess up the party. We are saying even if Khubisa still wants to be part of the NFP, he must just wait for the processes of the NFP,” says Majola.
